Trojan Swimming Club based in south Dublin is looking for a Head Coach to join our team.
As Head Coach, you will play a crucial role in the strategic development and performance of our swimmers and coaching staff.
Founded in 1976, Trojan Swimming Club has been dedicated to coaching thousands of young swimmers in south Dublin.
Our legacy is rich with achievements, including being named "Club of the Year" at the 2024 Swim Ireland awards.
We proudly hold several current Irish records and have a distinguished history of international and Olympic participation.
Performance swimming is our passion, and our club culture is rooted in an athlete-centred, coach-led philosophy, empowering every swimmer to reach their full potential.
Today, our Club features 8 squads and 200+ members, consistently operating at near-full capacity, making us one of the largest swimming clubs in the country.
We are now seeking a Head Coach to lead the Club into our next phase of growth.
Position OverviewAs the Head Coach, you will be responsible for creating and implementing training programs, fostering athlete development, and ensuring the overall success of the club.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of competitive swimming, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate athletes to achieve their fullest potential.
Key Responsibilities:Program Development and Implementation:Design and oversee comprehensive training programs for various age groups and skill levels, including competitive, developmental, and junior swimmers.Develop and execute a long-term strategic plan that aligns with the Club's goals and objectives.Coaching and Athlete Development:Primary coach for our top squad of Performance swimmers.Monitor and evaluate swimmers' progress, providing individualised feedback and adjustments to training as needed.Lead and mentor a team of Coaches, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages personal growth, sportsmanship, and a strong work ethic.Competition and Event Management:Plan and coordinate participation in local, regional, and national competitions.Attend swim meets, providing on-deck coaching and support to athletes.Develop strategies and race plans tailored to individual swimmers and relay teams.Communication and Administration:Maintain regular communication with athletes, parents, and Club committee, providing updates on training, events, and club initiatives.Collaborate with the Club committee to align coaching efforts with Club goals.Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, rules, and regulations.Recruitment and Community Engagement:Actively participate in talent identification and recruitment efforts to attract new members and retain existing talent.Represent the Club at community events and outreach programs to promote the sport of swimming and the club's values.Qualifications and SkillsEducation and Certification:Bachelor's degree in sports science, physical education, or a related field (preferred).Swim Ireland Level 3 Coaching qualification or equivalent.Safeguarding and Garda Vetting compliance.Experience:Coaching experience at a competitive swimming level, with a proven track record of success.Experience in a leadership role, managing teams, and working with athletes of various ages and abilities.Skills:Strong understanding of swimming techniques, training methodologies, and athlete development principles.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.Ability to motivate and inspire athletes and coaching staff.Personal AttributesPassionate about swimming and athlete development.Demonstrates integrity, sportsmanship, and a commitment to excellence.Innovative thinker with the ability to develop and implement new training strategies.Strong leadership presence with a collaborative approach to teamwork.Trojan Swimming Club is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
