Reporting to: Production Supervisor
Purpose:
The welding production expert will be responsible for the basic programming, optimizing, and maintaining arc and spot-welding operations to ensure high-quality production standards. The expert will drive automation initiatives, improve welding efficiency, and ensure that robotic systems are aligned with the industry's stringent quality and safety requirements.
Key duties & responsibilities:
1. Oversee the operation and setup of welding systems (Arc & Spot).
2. Basic programming and fine-tuning of welding systems to ensure that all welds adhere to strict quality and safety standards.
3. Identify and resolve technical issues with welding equipment.
4. Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed, and that equipment and fixtures are functioning optimally.
5. Conduct regular inspections of welded components produced by robotic systems to ensure that all welds meet automotive standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949), and address any inconsistencies or defects.
6. Ensure that all welding operations meet safety standards and OSHA regulations.
7. Train and mentor production team members on the operation of welding systems, including safety protocols, troubleshooting, and optimization techniques.
8. Continuously assess and improve welding processes to enhance production efficiency, minimize downtime, and reduce material waste.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position in an automotive or related manufacturing environment.
2. Knowledge of robotic welding systems (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
3. Knowledge of welding sources and Fronius software, Harms & Wende welding sources, XPegasus software, software and programming of industrial robots.
4. Knowledge of programming robotic systems (using platforms like PLC, HMI, and CNC) to adjust weld parameters, optimize performance, and maintain consistent quality.
5. Welding certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector) preferred.
