Lawlor Kiernan LLP work with family members and people with capacity issues where Decision Making Representatives are appointed by the Circuit Court and High Court. They ensure the voice of the relevant person is heard in court proceedings.
The role
The successful candidates will provide advice, assistance and representation to applicants and relevant persons in capacity matters before the Circuit and High Courts.
The role will require the management of the following cases:
1. Circuit Court applications on behalf of interested parties for the appointment of Decision Making Representatives.
2. Circuit Court applications – representing the relevant person and advocating on their behalf.
3. High Court discharge from Wardship applications.
The successful applicants will have empathy when dealing with clients that may have capacity issues and their family members. They will be collegial with social workers and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of exceptional legal service and the cultivation of strong client relationships. This is a key consideration.
Key requirements solicitor role:
1. Experience in healthcare / assisted capacity advisory work.
2. Court room advocacy (preferred).
3. Admitted to the Legal Aid Panel for Assisted Decision Making and Capacity or completed one of the necessary courses for admission to the Panel.
4. Ability to manage a varied caseload.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
7. Highly organised with good attention to detail.
8. Passion for capacity and health care law.
9. Be able to drive to meet people in various nursing homes in Dublin.
