EHS Manager Location: Co. Wicklow Role Function: Our client is seeking an EHS Manager to join their team in Co. Wicklow.
The EHS Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety of employees and the workplace, while ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
The role involves reviewing, monitoring, and executing the organisation's health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and performing site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
The individual will also handle environmental reporting as required by the relevant authorities.
This role requires an individual who can work autonomously, using their experience, judgment, and understanding of regulatory requirements, management systems, and site objectives.
Education / Experience / Skills: 3-4 years of experience in a similar role.
Experience working on a site with an environmental permit is a plus but not required.
Fluency in English is essential.
Responsibilities: Oversee the planning, review, and implementation of health and safety policies.
Develop and enhance safety management systems to ensure the site adheres to EHS standards.
Participate in management meetings and provide input on EHS matters.
Manage incidents, accidents, and near-misses, including follow-up, investigation, and reporting.
Collaborate with colleagues to foster a safety-conscious culture across the site.
Conduct routine inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior management.
Strict follow-up is required to ensure corrective actions are implemented immediately.
Perform site risk assessments for equipment, areas, chemicals, and new process steps.
Coordinate and deliver EHS training, both internally and externally.
Oversee contractor management from an EHS perspective.
Maintain up-to-date EHS documentation, including data, reports, permits, and policies to ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards.
Stay updated on new EHS government regulations and industry best practices.
Carry out internal and external audits of environmental and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits.
Facilitate site inspections by regulatory bodies such as the HSA and EPA.
Competencies: High attention to detail, thorough, and diligent.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety compliance and reporting.
