Looking for a sustainable-driven Production Manager to drive forward operations in a fast-paced, hard-working environment.
The deliverables of the Production Manager role include:
1. Management of a team of technicians.
2. Coordination of all fermentation activities (upstream and downstream), including troubleshooting.
3. Coordination of all media preparation activities to meet supply demands.
4. Managing the sourcing and supply of outsourced microbiological agents.
5. Managing H&S activities, including preparation of COSHH and risk assessment forms.
6. Management of inventory and building supplier relationships, including with toll manufacturers.
7. Management of QMS system to ISO standard.
8. Management of internal and external laboratory audits, including performance of root cause analysis and close out of non-conformances.
9. Building upon existing and developing new customer relationships.
10. Managing budgets and billing activities.

Experience and Qualifications
Qualifications
1. Possess an MSc in Microbiology or related plus 2+ years of industrial experience in pilot scale bacterial, yeast and fungal fermentation.
2. Or possess BSc in Microbiology or related and 5+ years of industrial experience in pilot scale bacterial, yeast and fungal fermentation.
Experience
1. A proven track record in coordinating pilot scale fermentation activities.
2. Direct experience in laboratory and people management.
3. Direct experience in managing customer relationships.
4. Possess excellent computer skills including databases, Excel, Word and statistical packages.
5. Possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), excellent interpersonal and presentation skills as well as being team focused.
6. Proven record of attention to detail and work with a sense of urgency yet have the ability to be impartial and objective.
Other significant role requirements
1. Hands-on experience of Fermentation (Bacterial, yeast and fungal), gained within an industrial or commercial setting.
2. Strong microbiology skills.
3. Practical experience in the use of bench-top and pilot scale bioreactors, with experience in process optimisation.
4. Good communication and documentation skills.
5. Experience in working with SOPs and an understanding of lab quality management.
6. Experience in working with sub-contracted suppliers of microbiological materials.
7. Strong focus on quality control and procedures for consistent material release.
8. Ability to troubleshoot issues and think outside the box.
9. A team player who is used to working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
