Our client is a leading Mechanical Engineering Contractor working on large-scale industrial building projects across Ireland and requires mechanical estimators / cost engineers to join the team based in Waterford.
Reporting to the Senior Estimator or the Estimating Manager and as an integral part of the estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates in a timely manner.
You will work on tenders for projects such as Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Data Centers, Semi-Conductor, Commercial, etc., across Ireland and the UK.
1. Conduct in-depth reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, etc.
2. Perform accurate quantity take-offs and mark up measured drawings.
3. Request, manage and evaluate supplier and sub-contractor quotations.
4. Issue tender queries and RFIs.
5. Prepare costed bill of quantities.
6. Prepare tender reports, tender pricing schedules, and other tender return documents.
7. Advise on potential value engineering opportunities.
8. Attend meetings and site visits when required.
9. Adhere to tender return deadlines.
10. Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and wider project teams.
11. Other related tasks as instructed.
Requirements:
1. Degree in either Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering, or other related field.
2. Previous mechanical cost estimating or design experience is desired.
3. Strong computer skills, especially in the use of MS Office.
4. Strong understanding of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building services systems.
5. Good knowledge of different mechanical & process pipework materials.
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, perform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs.
8. Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
9. Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
10. Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
Package:
€45K-€80K - Competitive salary packages negotiable based on level of experience and qualifications.
Some travel required to Limerick & Cork - approximately 3 days per week.
Options for candidates at all levels of experience: junior, intermediate & senior.
