St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive services for people with intellectual disabilities.
Founded in 1968 the Foundation has grown through continuously responding to the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The Foundation provides services to children and adults, through day services, residential, respite care, and home support in the North Cork and South West Limerick region.
We have day and residential services in various locations in the North Cork and South Limerick area; such as Charleville, Dromina, Newtownshandrum, Buttevant, Newmarket, Mitchelstown and Mallow, in Limerick; Ballylanders, Ballyagran, Bruree, Bruff Croom Dromcollogher, Granagh Kilmallock, and Liskennett. St. Joseph's Foundation is a leading agency in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare for the North West Cork and the North East Cork Children's Disability Network Teams.

7.00am am Monday to Friday DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BUS ESCORT: Responsible for general wellbeing of service users in care Ensure that the service users are received by a responsible person at the set down point Supervision of service users while travelling on the bus Maintain a good working relationship with the driver of the bus Act as liaison, along with the bus driver, between the Relevant Unit Supervisors/Nurse and Carers when required, i.e.
conveyance of messages and letters to parents Be aware of particular disabilities of service users, their individual care plans and be briefed by the line manager on how to deal with same, also line manager to make bus escort aware of any change in circumstances and/or care plan Perform any other duties relevant to the position of escorts which may be assigned by the line manager from time to time Unless under exceptional circumstances, the escort should never leave the bus Report all concerns to the line manager To promote a positive and dignified awareness of learning disability in the community To attend courses as requested by St Josephs FoundationHEALTH & SAFETY Make oneself aware of the Foundation's duties and the employee duties under the Safety, Health & Welfare at work legislation To ensure fire and safety precautions are implemented and maintained To ensure adequate knowledge of emergency action and plans To be responsible for the general safety of any equipment provided for the fulfilment of his/her duties Ensure that all accidents/incidents are reported and documented in the accident/incident book.GENERALAs the above is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities, this job description may be revised from time to time to take account of any change in requirements of the position or any other duties as may be assigned by Line Manager.
