Team Overview
The finance team comprises of three pillars, Controlling, PBFA and Reporting and Analytics, and Markets Finance. The finance team is located throughout Ireland and a center of excellence in Poland and supported by offshore teams in India. The controlling team works closely with all areas of Finance and the wider firm including Operations. The Accounting team within Controlling is led by the Finance Manager with 4 direct reports.
Role Description
The finance department acts as a ‘Trusted Business Advisors’ to the business and carrying out this function is at the core of this job
This role reports to the Head of Country Accounting with a dotted line to the Head of Finance within the firm.
The role will involve managing the weekly, monthly and year end processes across the areas of General Ledger management, journal processing, Payroll, Treasury, Accruals, Prepayments and Statutory Reporting, as well as supporting the Accounts Payable and Tax functions.
Responsibilities will include supervision of 4 direct reports.
Ownership of the monthly Balance sheet reconciliation processes
Annual statutory audits processes and requirements
This role will closely support other members of the finance team including FP&A, Markets Finance Business Partnering and other areas of the Finance Controlling function
Role Requirements
Strong communication skills and ability to communicate financial information across a wide range of stakeholders
Communicate regularly with the Head of Country Accounting to ensure issues are raised promptly and solved to ensure excellent service to the wider business
Significant experience with month-end and year-end close processes
Financial control over the processing of journals and P&L and Balance Sheet analysis and reporting
Strong experience in the preparation of Audit files for external audit process
Oversight and development of 4 direct reports
Performing other ad hoc projects concerning systems, process improvement and other business requirements
Essential Skills
Confident and able to build strong relationships at management levels
Ability to challenge and articulate requests succinctly and in a persuasive manner
The ability to balance multiple priorities, delivering to tight deadlines through the consideration of importance and level of urgency
An analytical mind-set with strong numeracy skills
A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Commercial awareness
Must be proficient in the use of Excel
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop strong relationships across the finance team by demonstrating a strong leader role and working to assist key stakeholders and senior management
Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
Strong knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
Ability to coach and develop other members of the finance controlling team
Qualifications
Fully Qualified Accountant or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
