· Ensure the daily care and supervision of children attending Footprints covering all aspects of child development and welfare.
· Identify, and provide for, the individual and collective needs of the children through a caring, educational and stimulating environment.
· Maintain the highest standard of care and attention in respect of the physical, psychological, emotional, and physical well-being of the child in keeping with Síolta & Aistear, including feeding children, and changing of nappies, where appropriate.
· Design, assess, and modify the learning environment to meet children's changing needs
· Model excellent practices and encourage others to acquire increased knowledge and develop proficiency in skills
· Adhere to all Sligo FRC policies and procedures relating to the health, welfare, safety and care of children and other staff, as per statutory regulations and guidelines.
· Choose and organise equipment and materials, ensuring that they are safe and in proper working order. Maintain the highest standard of hygiene in relation to equipment and play areas.
· Monitor and record any signs of non-accidental injury, neglect, social, emotional and developmental delay regarding children attending the service.
· Participate in planning, developing, and implementing programmes and curriculum as required. Writing reports and maintaining accurate records as may be required.
· Attend work-related training, CPD programmes, workshops, courses as required.
· Support in the supervision of students on placement/ trainee staff/ CE workers, as may be required.
· Participate in regular meetings with parents/guardians of children attending the service.
· Liaise with relevant professionals as required.
· Ensure that the highest standards of safety and care are maintained at all times, if arranging outings for the children,
· Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in relation to work at all times.
· Work as part of the team to support the operation and development of the service while ensuring that good working relationships are maintained with colleagues.
· Maintain a high standard of work performance, attendance and punctuality at all times.
Participate in the annual performance review and regular support and supervision with Manager/Supervisor.
· Adhere to Sligo FRC and TUSLA guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to safeguarding children.
· The duties and responsibilities of the post are likely to change in line with the needs of the children, therefore, you must be flexible and willing to change and adapt to new programmes and situations.
