About the Role
Due to ongoing expansion and investment, Leo Lynch is looking for a Senior Technical Engineer to assist our Tendering and Estimations department. The candidate must be a self-starter, well-organised with strong management skills who can anticipate issues, analyse scope gaps and technical specifications, and develop appropriate contingency measures. The successful candidate will possess a blend of strong technical and soft skills required to succeed, have technical knowledge of mechanical engineering, particularly technical specifications for both piping systems and equipment performance specifications against client requirements, as well as the communication skills necessary to communicate any changes, deviations, and design implications to the original client requirements. Candidates must be able to interact with the project and client teams and take the lead for all technical queries and issues which may arise during the tendering process.
Responsibilities
* Support the tender stage engineering requirements through managing & liaising with Key Project Stakeholders (Client design team, Main contractor, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, etc).
* Familiarise with Design specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the Project works.
* Review the current Co-ordination status of design information to identify the current state of design models and quantify works required to develop to LOD350 fabrication stage.
* Familiarise with the Project schedule and ensure Engineering activities support the construction build schedule.
* Engage vendors for both technical support and value engineering solutions.
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure plant and equipment offerings adhere to the correct specifications as outlined in the clients' specifications.
* Review equipment specifications to assess suitability for the proposal of VE options on large plant and equipment.
* Review client-issued design documentation to assess quality and robustness of current client designs.
* Attend client meetings during the tender stage of projects.
* Present technical reports and VE selections to clients as part of the post-tender review process.
* Liaise with clients and write up reports to present to Directors and other relevant parties.
* Schedule meetings when necessary.
* Coordinate with Client project management teams and contractors to ensure that designs meet legal and regulatory requirements.
* Provide technical support to the construction engineering team during the early phase of projects.
* Perform material take-offs from P&IDs.
* Review P&IDs against 3D coordinated models.
* Create and populate risk registers to outline risks and opportunities to a project based upon technical review of the available specifications.
Candidate Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will possess the following:
* 5+ years' experience working with a recognized Mechanical contractor in process mechanical/pipework (experience working for a design consultancy is preferred).
* Excellent organizational and project planning skills.
* Experience with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM process.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
