Salary: Appointment will be made on Plumber Grade (€41,153 - €47,395) at a point in line with Government pay policy.
Candidates are required on occasion to be on-call during unsocial hours which will attract additional allowances and payment to the basic salary stated.
Hours of work: Full-Time 39 Hours per week

The successful candidate will be a competent tradesman in mechanical work.
The range of equipment in the Hospital covered by the mechanical shop is wide and requires a high level of experience and capacity to respond to problems.
One key aspect of the mechanical service is to understand the importance of patient, visitor, and staff safety.
ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: To perform such duties appropriate to his trade as may be assigned by the Technical Services Manager, Works Managers or Foremen, or such other person as may be designated by the Beaumont Hospital Board.To perform the duties of Carpenter on any hospital department or at such other locations as may be required by the Beaumont Hospital.To maintain a satisfactory standard of work.To report to immediate superior on any irregularities that might adversely affect the performance of assigned duties.To be willing to report to the hospital outside of normal hours for emergency duty.To report promptly for duty.To perform services on an overtime basis within reasonable limits as may be required from time to time.The appointee may absent himself/herself from work only on having obtained prior permission from the Technical Services Manager.To perform any other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time.To maintain such records and systems as may be required from time to time and ensure that all documentation within the department is completed satisfactorily and efficiently.To record completion of work tasks allocated electronically on the department's maintenance software package in a timely fashion on an ongoing basis.Any other duties as assigned by Line Manager.QualificationsSelection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge, and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.

Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:Possess a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 6 (or higher) Advanced Certificate Craft - Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent qualification).Or possess the National Craft Certificate issued by FETAC.Or possess the Senior Trades Certificate issued by the Department of Education.Or possess a Level 3 Technical/Trade qualification or equivalent issued by City & Guilds, London.Candidates must possess the requisite technical knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability for the proper discharge of the office.2.
Age Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004).
A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.

Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
