Our Client, a leading medical device company based in Leitrim is looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join their team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Leading Lean implementation across the site.
2. Support Lean systems training activities, Kaizen events and visual management throughout the site.
3. Implement and maintain MDI boards for all cells.
4. Execute monthly 5S audits on all assigned cells in a timely manner.
5. Complete accurate time observation sheets as required.
6. Conduct line balancing exercises.
7. Maintain current state value stream maps for key products.
8. Coach other staff in Lean systems methodologies, teach them to see waste and facilitate structured problem solving (Problem statement, Ishikawa, 5 whys etc.).
9. Highlight opportunities for improvement within the clean rooms.
10. Ensure methodologies are adhered to and that Lean Business becomes ingrained in the company culture.
11. Ensure that all changes are implemented in compliance with the QMS, (ISO13485 / FDA) and the OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management Systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001) and other regulatory requirements relevant to the Company.
12. Ensure that health and safety requirements are considered before implementing change so that potential hazards or risks are identified and mitigated.
13. Adhere to Plant Safety requirements and Health & Safety requirements relating to your work, assuming responsibility for those aspects of the OH&S System over which you have control to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.
14. Be aware of the potential environmental impacts associated with your work and the implications of non-conformance.
15. Contribute to enhanced energy performance by conservation of energy where possible (Lighting, Equipment, Air Conditioning etc.).
16. Contribute to the continual improvement activities of the OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management systems through participation, providing feedback/ suggestions for improvement and by reporting accidents, dangerous occurrence, near miss/ illness, good catch and environmental incidents in a timely manner.
Job requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business / Manufacturing / Engineering / Life Sciences or 5+ years’ experience in a Continuous Improvement Technician role in a medical device environment plus Certified Lean Systems Black Belt and Six Sigma Green Belt.
2. An Associate position may exist for 3 years’ experience in a Continuous Improvement Technician role in a medical device environment plus Certified Lean Systems Black Belt and Six Sigma Green Belt.
3. A Senior position may exist for facilitating and executing a minimum of 20 Kaizen events.
4. Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement methodology (Kaizen, 3P, 5S, SMED, MDI etc.).
5. Experience in Visual Management, 5S and MDI is desirable.
6. Experience in Project Management with expertise in coordinating project teams including motivation of staff, coaching/training, follow up on actions.
7. Comprehensive knowledge of IT business systems including Business systems (preferably IQMS), Quality systems and other computer-based systems.
8. Excellent communication, training and problem solving and facilitation skills with high levels of personal drive and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, strong technical acumen.
9. Ability to define and agree company and personal goals for continuous improvement activity and deliver on these goals.
10. Proven track record of providing verifiable results as a Change Agent.
