The role
Facilities Painter Operative
1.0WTE Full Time, Permanent Contract
The main purpose of the Facilities Painter Operative is to assist in ensuring the structural safety and appropriateness of the building for the provision of service user care and support activities. The Facilities Painter Operative will report to the Facilities Manager.

Location
St Patrick’s Hospital, James’s Street, Dublin 8, incorporating St Patricks Hospital Lucan and all SPMHS Dean Clinics.
Responsibilities
* To ensure timely and appropriate actioning of all works as issued by Facilities Department
* Undertake tasks generated by the Daily Work Order system and sign off when complete
* Ability to carry out wall covering such as vinyl and wallpaper hanging
* Be competent to resilicone complete bathrooms/ensuites
* Ability to select, mix, and apply surface coatings which successfully match and/or restore historic interior or exterior surfaces.
* Competent to carry out minor plaster repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing plaster
* Carry out graffiti removal both exterior and interior
* Organize the safe disposal of paints and chemicals to comply with legislation
* Be competent working in restrictive settings/areas
* Implement and update under the guidance of the Facilities Manager/Assistant Facilities Manager all S.O.P.’s relating to the Facilities Department
* Survey buildings on a regular schedule and repair findings where required to ensure they are consistent with health and safety regulations
* Partake in the departments Legionella prevention Programme and undertake the relevant training
* Assist with carrying out weekly/monthly critical testing and log same
* Assisting with emergency preparedness planning and practice
* Ensure the upkeep of all signage throughout the Hospital
* Assist trades person/s on specific tasks as required
* Partake in Legionella prevention programme and ensure PPMs are completed on schedule
* Assist to ensure that the Department complies with all M.H.C. Standards
* To participate in Facilities Department “On Call Roster” as and when required
* Operate all hospital vehicles when required
* Be competent to work at heights using appropriate apparatus supplied by the hospital
* Assist in ensuring a collaborative and transparent relationship exists between the Health & Safety Department and the Facilities Department by ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are met
* Carry a designated phone and pager for communication purposes and enacting the appropriate response
* Be available to assist and manage the clearing of internal pathways of snow, ice and adverse weather conditions when required to ensure a safe site for staff, service users and visitors
* To react and assist in Fire Alarm activation and any other unforeseen emergencies.
* Must be willing to participate with all future technology developments relevant to the department
* Must be competent and willing to undertake various trade tasks such as plumbing and electrical tasks when required and assist with other department staffing shortfalls
* Must be presentable and wear hospital issued uniform and PPE
* Ensure spare part stock levels including painting materials are maintained and seek quotes as and when required
* Carry out toolbox checks to ensure issued tools are kept safe and maintained
* Maintain dignity and respect
* Must assist with managing the fire safety systems on site, to include passive and active systems and have a good knowledge of fire regulations
* Ensure timekeeping standards are at a high level
* Willing to partake in further training
* Must be available to work outside of normal hours as and when required to ensure the operational requirements of the organisation are maintained, at times this can be at short notice
* Assist with compliance of budgets

Terms and Conditions
Tenure: 1.0wte Full time, Permanent contract, pensionable as below.
Working Week: The standard hours applying to this position is 39 hours per week.
Salary: The salary for the position is based on the SPMHS 2025 Facilities Painter scale (€37,789 - €47,096) and dependent on experience, plus allowances.
On Call allowance.
Annual Leave The annual leave associated with this position is 23 days.
Pension: All pensionable staff become members of the pension scheme after successful completion of probation. The scheme is a defined contribution scheme with a deduction from the salary of the employee of 4%. In respect of an internal appointment being made the individual's existing pension arrangements will continue.
Probation: The appointee will be appointed in a probationary capacity for the first six months during which time the job holder’s performance will be subject to ongoing review.
Any extension to or suspension of the period of probation will be in line with the European Union (Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions) 2022.
Health: The appointee must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the position and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character: The appointee must be of good character.
Retirement Age: Normal retirement age for employees is 66 years which at present is also normal pension age. #J-18808-Ljbffr
