Financial Accountant (Financial Control, Financial Planning & Analysis, Budget Planning) - PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITY!
Our client, a fast growing construction/manufacturing company, is looking for an ambitious, results-driven finance professional to join their team. This role offers significant exposure to the senior leadership team and plays a key part in delivering timely, accurate insights that drive business performance.
Reporting to: Finance Director
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare Work in Progress (WIP) and Work on Site calculations with detailed analysis.
* Develop and implement a financial risk assessment process, ensuring corrective action plans (CAPs) are in place where necessary.
* Manage working capital projections to ensure optimal cash flow.
* Lead process transformation initiatives to eliminate manual workflows and leverage IT and AI solutions for automation.
* Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and tax obligations, including VAT, PAYE, RCT, and CIS submissions.
* Support relationships with external auditors, banks, and key stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain a monthly KPI dashboard and reporting pack to support management decision-making, including the preparation of the monthly board pack.
* Provide management information and business intelligence to enhance performance across divisions and inform strategic discussions.
* Oversee revenue management, ensuring optimization of revenue applications, contract variations, and margin protection.
* Lead cost management initiatives, including tender analysis, cost control strategies, and monitoring project budgets and expenditures.
* Conduct detailed project-level variance analysis (budget vs. actual).
* Prepare business plans with multi-year forecasts and robust analytics.
* Drive initiatives focused on margin improvement.
Skills & Requirements:
* Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with 1-2 years of post-qualification experience in a senior finance role in industry or an accountancy practice.
* Finance Transformation: Proven track record in driving finance transformation, automating processes, and leading change.
* Systems Knowledge: Experience with accounting systems such as Iplicit (or similar) is advantageous.
* Technical Proficiency: Strong reporting and analytical skills with expertise in MS Office, particularly PowerPoint.
* Communication: Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Attention to Detail: Highly organised with strong planning abilities and a keen eye for detail.
* Problem-Solving: Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
* Experience: Minimum of 3+ years in a finance position, ideally with experience in an accounting firm and exposure to the construction/manufacturing industry or a similar sector.
