About the Role
As a Sustainability Manager, you will lead the sustainability agenda, collaborating with various client organizations and functions to identify and implement sustainable, efficient, and innovative solutions. Your role will involve working cross-functionally across the programme supply chain to integrate market-leading sustainability practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Additionally, you will support the land, property, and planning function by overseeing the environmental and sustainability sub-functional area, including resource planning and team coordination.
You will bring extensive experience in embedding sustainability and efficiency throughout major transport and infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
This role requires strong communication and influencing skills, the ability to lead tasks independently, and effective coordination of task delivery teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Certification
* Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural sciences, or a related field.
* Chartered professional status (e.g., Chartered Environmentalist).
Technical Expertise & Experience
* Extensive experience in sustainability strategy, environmental management, and stakeholder engagement.
* Strong understanding of circular economy principles, resource efficiency, decarbonization, energy management, social value, life cycle assessment, and sustainable procurement.
* Proven track record in delivering sustainability and environmental projects in a client-facing role.
* Expertise in data analysis tools such as MS Excel, Power BI, ArcGIS, and LCA software.
* Experience of leading and managing teams, including resource planning and deployment.
* Ability to provide practical and advisory support in embedding sustainability practices within organizations and projects.
Industry & Regulatory Knowledge
* Experience working within major infrastructure sectors, including highways, water, power, rail, waste management, or local government projects.
* Familiarity with EU and Ireland-specific sustainability policies and regulations, including EU Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and other European sustainability goals.
Communication & Leadership Skills
* Strong report writing and presentation skills, with substantial experience in workshop facilitation.
* Ability to lead sustainability initiatives independently, while effectively coordinating with teams and stakeholders.
