Applications are sought for an Ad Astra Fellow within the UCD School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore in conjunction with Archive Studies in the School of History.
The appointee will participate effectively in the Schools' postgraduate and undergraduate programmes and contribute significantly to the research in Irish and the digital humanities maximising the visibility of UCD Cultural and Special Collections.
Applications are encouraged from candidates with lecturing and research experience in the areas of Irish from early medieval until modern, digital humanities, archivistics and digital curation.
The Schools would particularly welcome applicants who have experience in devising and coordinating projects in digital humanities (e.g.
machine translation, digital corpora, terminology planning, the digitisation and analysis of Irish cultural heritage).
They will apply for funding to digitally enhance the current UCD Cultural Collections to maximise the reach for researchers in these areas, with a specific focus on the UCD Archives, and the National Folklore Collection.
They will also supervise a fully funded doctoral student from no later than the second year of their appointment.
Following an initial three-year period with a reduced teaching load, the successful candidate will teach on undergraduate programmes in Irish, Celtic Studies and Archival Studies, and create new modules in relation to digital humanities, Irish language and UCD Cultural and Special Collections.
The appointee will also arrange, monitor and supervise work experience placements to contribute to the development of Digital Humanities in combined Education and language programmes in CAH and CSSL.
95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar (7943) Salary Scale: €62,855 - €99,533 Per Annum Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
