Job Description
Jones Engineering are seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Lead (Piping & Fabrication) to join one of Ireland’s largest and most successful M&E contractors. This position will be based in one of our offices in Leinster with travel required around Ireland, as well as to mainland Europe.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of the Mechanical Fabrication & Installation element of the Groups Quality Management System. They will also take ownership for the delivery of mechanical quality on our projects, ensuring that all client specifications are met, by accurately developing and executing Jones Engineering Project Quality Plans (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Lead the quality ethos for projects through a “Right First Time” approach by developing and delivering quality-focused mechanical training and job-aids.
2. Provide support, guidance, and oversight of Mechanical Project QA/QC Leads as part of the Group Mechanical Quality Team.
3. Review project specifications at tender and award stage to develop accurate Project Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
4. Support Mechanical Project QA/QC leads in implementing the Construction Led – Quality verified approach on Projects.
5. Drive, oversee and review a programme of mechanical fabrication and installation benchmarks / First of Kind across all projects and off-site fabrication facilities.
6. Develop Welding Procedure Qualification Records.
7. Carry out Welder Qualifications against WPQRs and manage the overall qualification matrix for the group.
8. Ensure conformance to the Jones Engineering welding databases for each project.
9. Oversee and audit 3rd party inspection & NDT contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
10. Ensure Quality standards are met and maintained by direct labour & subcontractors through Workshop / Fabrication Facility audits.
11. Participate in regular site quality audits with a focus on mechanical piping fabrication and installation.
12. Liaise with other in-house specialist Group QA/QC Leads as required.
Skills and Requirements
* Relevant mechanical/quality qualification.
* Qualified Welding Inspector to CSWIP 3.1.
* Thorough knowledge of ASME and EN Welding and associated Material Specifications.
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
* Fluent English essential.
* Knowledge of Mechanical Piping Systems and P&IDs essential.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office essential.
* Experience working with Quality software would be advantageous.
