The role
As a key member of the engineering team, you will report to the Project Manager and support various engineering projects from inception to completion. Your work will consistently meet the highest quality standards, be delivered on time, and exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engage in comprehensive project planning and implementation, which includes building and configuring both virtual and physical servers as well as setting up virtual servers on private and public clouds. You will also configure networking equipment such as firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi Access Points, and Wi-Fi controllers using the latest technologies and best practices.
2. Remote and onsite technical assessment of potential and existing clients’ IT infrastructure and preparing a technical assessment for the sales account manager with observations and recommendations.
3. Serve as the technical escalation point for the Level 3 helpdesk team, providing expert guidance and solutions for complex technical issues.
4. Conduct cyber security audits to verify the integrity and safety of client systems.
Essential Requirements
1. Possess a degree-level qualification with Microsoft certifications or equivalent industry experience in an IT discipline, preferably within the Managed Service Provider (MSP) sector.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years relevant technical experience.
3. Project management experience a plus.
4. Full, clean driver’s license.
Essential Technical Competencies
1. Detailed understanding and troubleshooting experience in a virtualised environment, preferably Hyper-V.
2. Knowledge of firewalls includes experience with VPNs, routing, and firewall/NAT rules (ideally FortiGate and Draytek).
3. Experience in diagnosing issues with Active Directory and DNS.
4. Practical experience with backup solutions, particularly Veeam Backup and Replication.
5. Managing and administering RMM (N-Central).
6. PowerShell automation.
7. Setting up and configuring server hardware, including RAID setups and SAN.
8. Knowledge of Hyper-V clusters.
9. Eagerness to adapt and enhance skills in an evolving technical landscape.
10. Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite, including Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams and Endpoint Management using Intune.
