We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. The Mortgage Underwriting team plays a key role in performing credit analysis, supporting the mortgage underwriting process, and ensuring that risk and creditworthiness are evaluated in accordance with the company’s credit policy.
Responsibilities:
* Subject matter expert in relation to underwriting and lending to high net worth and self-employed individuals.
* Assessing Mortgage applications daily with the ability to get through large volume of cases on a daily basis with accuracy and consistency in decision making.
* Prepare, review and analyse the creditworthiness and risk implication of lending applications ensuring adherence to policy and process measures.
* Assess financial accounts, credit reports, proof of income, bank statements, statement of affairs, and any other supporting documentation at the borrower level.
* Presentation of credit reports in a clear and concise manner to the lenders delegated authorities including Senior Management and Lending Committee.
* Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all data supporting applications as per agreed policy and criteria.
* Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to promote credit policy whilst maximising new opportunities.
* Provide high levels of service to both internal and external customers.
* Proven ability to assess income and risk implications across both employed and self-employed customer segments in line with CBI Mortgage Market Rules and credit policy.
* Develop clear conditions of offer and provide support to external completions staff as needed to verify adherence before drawdown.
About you:
* Previous experience in mortgage underwriting and proven track record of underwriting of complex credit presentations and full understanding of Mortgage Credit Environment.
* Customer focused with a positive attitude and mindset.
* Strong customer orientation and communication skills.
* QFA or APA qualified.
* Full understanding of the regulatory environment for mortgages.
* Ability to make sound decisions based on business needs.
* Have a willingness to take necessary actions and decisions to meet objectives.
* Ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.
* The ability and desire to as an individual contributor and as part of a team.
