Orchard Fostering - Fostering Social Worker (Assessment Team)
Fixed Term Contract - 1 year
Orchard Fostering is an Irish company established in 2008 that provides fostering and supported lodging services to children and young people who are referred to its service by TUSLA. Orchard Fostering is committed to service excellence and ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people in its care.
We currently have an opportunity for a full-time Assessment Social Worker to join our team to support our service on a one-year fixed term basis. The post holder will report directly to the Assessment Social Work Team Leader and work closely with both the social care and social work teams.
This hybrid (office base/home base) role will involve travel to potential foster carer homes nationwide.
About You
* Must have a relevant professional qualification at Level 8 or above in Social Work, validated in the Republic of Ireland, which is approved by the CORU Social Workers Registration Board.
* Must be registered with CORU. Registration must also be maintained by the postholder.
* Must have at least 2 years' post-qualification experience as a social worker.
* The ideal candidate will also have experience in the foster care field.
* Must have a clean driver's license with validity to drive in Ireland and use of a car.
* Must have valid Garda Clearance.
* Must have valid Overseas Clearance if the applicant lived abroad for more than 6 months.
The Role
To provide quality assessments of potential foster carers and complete assessments within a predetermined timeframe while adhering to the National Fostering standards.
Main Duties (not An Exhaustive List)
* To provide quality assessments of prospective foster carers.
* To ensure that the service provided is compliant with regulations and national standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
* To ensure accurate, contemporaneous recording throughout the assessment process.
* To complete initial screening visits to foster care applicants, as agreed.
* To complete fostering assessments within the national fostering standards.
* To furnish good quality assessment reports for presentation to foster care committees.
* Attendance at foster care committees to present assessment reports.
* To work in close co-operation with the referrals manager and coordinator to ensure all referrals are dealt with through the referral process, in line with potential carers' approval and within the regulations and standards for foster care.
* To ensure the National Standards for Fostering and the Fostering Regulations are adhered to at all times.
* All post holders are expected to maintain professional standards of practice and to work in accordance with the company vision, values, procedures, and managerial guidance.
* Participation in the on-call rota.
