Join the Azure Edge Team, a dynamic group expanding to build the world’s biggest edge network. We are seeking a creative and diligent Cloud Network Engineer II with a blend of networking experience and software development fundamentals. Our mission is to automate every aspect of the network, aiming for a self-sustaining, self-repairing infrastructure. The Azure Edge team is responsible for managing the Edge network for all of Microsoft, connecting over 200 edge sites globally. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
2. 1+ years network engineering experience in a cloud provider, internet service provider, or large enterprise environment
3. 1+ years professional software development experience in the networking domain, including proficiency in C#, Python, Go, REST, YAML, and workflow systems

4. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
5. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
6. Technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with routing protocols such as BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), SDN (Software Defined Networking)

Responsibilities
7. Specialize in Network protocols, gathering requirements, developing innovative solutions, prototyping in physical and emulated lab environments, piloting in production, documenting, and operationalizing the chosen solution.
8. Resolve live site issues by troubleshooting complex network components and features, such as device operating systems.
9. Lead customer-facing and critical troubleshooting efforts under time-sensitive situations.
10. Write drivers and abstraction layers for deploying new routing features across the network, enabling fast deployment and quality operations.
11. Support innovation and cost management by developing new ideas for network systems and tools that meet customer and/or business needs.
12. Take ownership of ideas from design to production, ensuring end-to-end responsibility.
