Lab Supervisor Job Description
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory setting, primarily on the late shift and weekends, to ensure all activities are conducted to the highest standards. They will report to the Laboratory Operations Manager and assist in coordinating operations, while ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine and specialist analytical testing on biological samples.
2. Lead lab operations on the late shift and weekend, ensuring high-quality results.
3. Assist the Laboratory Operations Manager in managing laboratory operations, including service delivery and team coordination.
4. Manage operational team members, overseeing work schedules, performance, training, housekeeping, safety, quality, and documentation.
5. Coordinate onboarding and training for new laboratory scientists, ensuring training records align with Quality Department requirements.
6. Drive troubleshooting efforts to identify root causes of assay failures and manage reporting through the quality system.
7. Support the Laboratory Operations Manager in ensuring laboratory operations meet financial goals.
8. Collaborate with the Quality Manager to ensure laboratory practices align with ISO 17025 standards.
9. Maintain equipment, perform performance checks, and report non-conforming issues.
10. Manage stock levels, conducting daily stock checks, and reporting low inventory levels.
11. Support the team with day-to-day tasks and workload prioritization.
12. Assist with sample processing and tracking, ensuring efficient processing within required timelines.
13. Carry out procedures accurately according to standard operating procedures.
14. Manage project tracking files, updating them daily, and providing feedback to senior management.
15. Eliminate chemical residue and other waste properly.
This is a full-time position, working evening shifts only. Candidates must be available for immediate start and have the correct permissions. The contract duration is expected to be around 5 months.
