Casting call - Shadows Beneath the Floor
We are casting for Shadows Beneath the Floor, a student horror short written by James Ryan and directed by Ivan Chavira. The film will be screened at the Lighthouse Cinema as part of Griffith College Dublin’s 2025 Creative Show. This is an unpaid project, but catering, transportation, and housing will be provided for the duration of the shoot.
Synopsis
When Ethan, a ghost-hunting enthusiast, stumbles upon a mysterious cabin in the woods, his fascination quickly turns into obsession. But he isn’t the only one seeking shelter—Claire, a sarcastic and free-spirited raver on the run from a busted party, takes refuge inside. As the night unfolds, they realize that something far more sinister lurks beneath the floorboards.
ETHAN (Lead, Male, 20s)
Ethan is a quiet, obsessive paranormal investigator, driven by an unshakable need to uncover the truth. Highly analytical and deeply focused, he sees patterns others miss and follows them with unwavering certainty. Reclusive and socially awkward, he lacks conventional social skills, often coming across as eccentric. Yet beneath his oddities lies a calculating mind, his determination bordering on stubbornness as the haunting unfolds.
CLAIRE (Lead, Female, 20s)
A sharp-witted, impulsive raver with a rebellious streak, she masks fear with sarcasm and reckless humor. Skeptical and quick-thinking, she swings between bravado and sheer panic as the haunting intensifies, her cool exterior cracking with each unsettling moment. Resourceful but erratic, her unpredictable persona leads her to discover the dangers and dark nature of the house against her own will.
