Firm: Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) requires a qualified librarian to fill the permanent position of Senior Law Librarian. This is an opportunity for a suitably experienced professional to play a key role in leading and managing library services to ensure the delivery of high-quality information and research support within the Office of the DPP.
The role will require strategic development, team leadership, resource management, and the enhancement of library services in alignment with the ODPP's strategic goals. This role will sit in the Policy and Research Unit (PPRU), which has well-developed capacity relating to Library and Information services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the library and in doing so will play a key role supporting the ODPP's Library and Information Services Strategy and implementing library and information services initiatives.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
1. Driving the strategic development, planning & implementation of innovative library programmes and services by ensuring alignment with the organisational priorities.
2. Leading and motivating a high-performing library team by developing staff capabilities, providing guidance, training, and fostering a culture of excellence.
3. Implementing the ODPP Library and Information Services Strategy 2025-2027.
4. Overseeing the library's budget and resources, ensuring efficient utilisation and compliance with policies and processes.
5. Managing the development and maintenance of library systems & digital platforms.
6. Enhancing the library’s collections (digital, print, & special/heritage collections).
7. Collaborating with IT and other departments to enhance the library’s digital infrastructure.
8. Leading on environmental scanning, media monitoring, and monitoring legal developments of relevance to the work of Prosecutors.
9. Building relationships with internal stakeholders & collaborating with other libraries and professional associations to share knowledge and promote best practices.
10. Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and standards.
11. Driving innovation in library services, including the use of technology for enhanced access and efficiency.
12. Conducting regular evaluations of library services to identify areas for improvement.
