Overview
The National Broadband Plan (NBP) is the largest ever telecommunications project undertaken by the Irish State. It aims to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.
The NBP will ensure that all people and businesses in the Intervention Area have access to a modern and reliable broadband network, capable of supporting the communications, information, education and entertainment requirements of current and future generations.
The network will be designed, built and operated by National Broadband Ireland, using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment. It will make its services available to all of the rollout area, which accounts for 23% of the population in about approximately 537,000 homes, farms, schools and businesses.
Key Objectives / Accountabilities:
NBI is looking for a Project Scheduler who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth. Working as part of the Scheduling Team you will be trained in the use of Primavera P6 within the organisation enabling you to work with functional teams to provide scheduling services including obtaining updates from PM's, identifying dependencies and critical path items. You will directly contribute to the evolution of NBI by working closely with technical experts, project leads, project managers and others in owning and managing project schedules within Oracle P6 - sequencing and linking critical activities across multiple projects. Ensuring that an open communication system is available where all stakeholders are informed about changes to established schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Timely and accurate processing of schedule updates in accordance to agreed update/reporting cadence
2. Ensure contributors (updaters) to schedulers are aware of their responsibilities in the form of weekly lookaheads
3. Analyse variances in weekly schedule updates relative to previous weeks and known baselines and report progress against schedule
4. Ensure Schedule impacts are reported in a timely manner to the various functions
5. Perform Critical Path Analysis across the programme of works
6. Support the Scheduling Team in growing the existing scheduling practices within the teams and leverage industry best practice
7. Support with tracking, analysing and reporting information appropriately to allow the project teams to manage their projects and evaluate weekly reports
8. Ensure accuracy of project schedules and performed version control
9. Co-ordinate project schedules, tasks, meeting updates, and efficient distribution of reports
10. Monitor projects' progress, including identifying critical activities and reviewing forecasts and progress achieved to date
11. Produce comprehensive schedule outputs in various formats and detail to suit different users or audiences for current programs/projects
12. Analyse validity and quality of schedules submitted for the program of works
13. Monitor actual progress, compare to baseline and report progress against schedule
14. Recommend policy or procedural revisions that will improve schedule accomplishment
15. Assist program/project managers and stakeholders as required to understand the role of P6 scheduling as a significant management tool.
Knowledge & Experience:
16. Experience working with Primavera P6/MS Project would be considered an advantage
17. Experience with liaising with multiple stakeholders in and outside an organisation
18. Experience with working in a Project or PMO environment is preferred
19. Experience working across multiple projects simultaneously
20. Experience in Telco or construction
21. Degree qualified
