Position: Engineering Technician (4x Shift Cycle) - South Dublin

We are now recruiting an Engineering Technician (4x Shift Cycle) for a permanent role in South Dublin. The shift pattern is a 4-Cycle Shift (Days and Nights). You must be willing to work 2 x 12-hour days, followed by 2 x 12-hour nights, followed by 4 days off.
In this role you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, overhaul, adjustment and modification of all plant and production equipment, as well as the fabrication of new and replacement equipment. As Engineering Shift Technician, you will also be involved in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives and ensure smooth operation of the plant.
Main Responsibilities
1. Install, modify and maintain the full range of production equipment;
2. Continuously improve the plant operations. This includes reducing downtime and reducing waste, deal with all breakdowns, carry out overhauls as required, work to the highest engineering standards and fine-tuning production equipment to increase output;
3. Assist in the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging, etc;
4. Deal/liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops;
5. Involved in analysing customer complaints and internal quality issues and assist in drawing up improvement programmes for equipment to eliminate these defects being produced;
6. Assist with the training of other Engineering Technicians, new recruits and apprentices as required;
7. Participate in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable;
8. Maintain appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (e.g. breakdowns, maintenance etc.);
9. Full utilisation of all current and new IT/processing systems e.g. SAP;
10. Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping to ensure area, machines and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition. Correct and/or report unsafe conditions and other faults.
Interested applicants should have a good knowledge of the mechanical and electronic systems associated with high-volume manufacturing equipment, and hold a Third Level Qualification or National Craft Certificate, together with additional specialised training and experience.
Relevant industrial experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment is crucial for this role. You must have the ability to apply a scientific approach to problem solving, blending analytical and experimental skills and to maximise productivity and yields. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. You must have relevant PC skills.
