Metal fabrication involves constructing structures from various raw materials. Welding is the main focus of steel fabrication. The formed and machined parts are assembled, tack-welded into place, and then re-checked for accuracy.
The welder then completes welding per the engineering drawings.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Ensure tasks are executed most effectively regarding time, cost and function.
2. Show top-notch craftsmanship in all aspects of the job.
3. Take direction and learn under the Welding Team Supervisor.
4. Work well with other members of the team.
5. Strive for ongoing self-improvement through additional training.
6. Perform related work as required.
7. Emphasis on producing high-quality weldments.
Skills/Qualifications
1. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop a finished product from these.
2. Team player, able to take direction.
3. Ability to build high-quality weldments from blueprints and raw parts.
4. Work from 2D & 3D drawings to produce parts from sheet metal, plate and bar stock.
5. Assemble equipment from fabricated parts, including weldments.
6. Ability to set up and operate saws, shear, press brake, punches and ironworker.
7. Repair and maintain shop equipment and facilities as required.
8. Produce high-quality work with a low rejection rate at all times under ISO 9001:2015.
