This role will focus on optimizing product merchandising with a strong emphasis on SEO to improve discoverability, drive traffic, and enhance the online shopping experience.
Role Synopsis:
As an Ecommerce Assistant at Heavins.ie, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our online product catalogue and driving organic traffic through SEO-focused merchandising strategies. By combining your understanding of ecommerce platforms and SEO best practices, you will ensure that our products are presented in a compelling and search-friendly manner. Key Responsibilities:
SEO-Focused Merchandising
1. Upload and maintain product information on the website, ensuring data accuracy and optimization for search engines.
2. Write SEO-optimized product descriptions, titles, and specifications to enhance visibility and drive organic traffic.
3. Optimize product images, alt text, and videos for both search engine indexing and customer engagement.
4. Implement SEO-driven strategies for cross-selling and up-selling, improving product discoverability across the site.
5. Use metadata and structured data (e.g., schema) to improve product searchability and rankings.
6. Regularly audit product categories, filters, and site structure to ensure SEO best practices are followed.
Content & Website Optimization
1. Conduct keyword research to identify high-impact terms for product pages and website content.
2. Collaborate with the content marketing team to create video content, blog posts, guides, and other marketing content.
3. Support the implementation of on-site SEO improvements, such as internal linking and navigation enhancements.
4. Monitor and analyze website performance using analytics tools, providing actionable insights for improvement.
Continuous Improvement and Collaboration
1. Monitor and adapt to the latest SEO trends, Google algorithm updates, and best practices to maintain Heavins.ie’s competitive edge in search rankings.
2. Work closely with ecommerce, marketing, and content teams to ensure all merchandising efforts are aligned with overall business objectives and deliver a cohesive customer experience.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
1. Familiar with Semrush or similar SEO tools for keyword research, competitor analysis, and performance tracking.
2. Demonstrable experience in ecommerce, SEO, or online merchandising (preferably within retail).
3. Strong understanding of SEO principles, including on-page optimization and keyword research.
4. Proficiency in ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento) and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on creating engaging and search-friendly content.
6. Analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
7. Ability to multitask and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
