Role Overview:
The Cylinder Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end logistics operations related to the storage, distribution, and transportation of Calor cylinders across the Island of Ireland.
This role ensures the safe and efficient flow of cylinders from the filling plants to customers, managing inventory, third party hauliers, distribution routes, regulatory compliance, and cost optimisation.
The role requires strong leadership, supply chain management, and relationshipbuilding skills to manage both in-house teams and external logistics partners effectively.
Key Responsibilities: 1.
Operational Management:
Oversee logistics operations for the transportation and distribution of LPG cylinders to customers across the Island of Ireland.
* Manage cylinder inventory, stock replenishment and maintaining optimal storage conditions.
Develop and manage delivery schedules, route planning, and load optimisation to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and legal regulations in all logistics operations, including ADR and DGSA (Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations) transportation standards.
Drive stock rebalancing by leading cross functional team to optimise stock levels at Calor sites, hauliers, distributors and dealers.
Third-Party Haulage Management:
Manage relationships with third-party haulage companies to ensure high quality service, fair optimal pricing, and operational efficiencies.
Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements with haulage providers to optimise cost, service quality, and performance.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of third-party logistics providers, using KPIs and service metrics, and address any service issues promptly.
Manage haulage partners to continually refine routes and delivery schedules optimising cost efficiency and ensuring the best allocation of resources.
Team Leadership:
Lead, motivate, and manage internal Cylinder Logistics Support teams across different regional locations.
Provide training and development opportunities to ensure adherence to safety standards and operational best practices.
Conduct performance reviews and offer constructive feedback to improve individual and team performance on an ongoing basis.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service and Cylinder Production to forecast demand and ensure cylinder availability.
Liaise with customers and haulage companies to address delivery concerns, manage expectations, and deliver exceptional service.
Work with suppliers and third-party providers to ensure continuity in the supply chain.
Sponsor team to provide expertise for dealers and distributors with safe storage and transportation compliance guidance on LPG.
Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers and Sales Representatives on dealer network and provide innovative solutions on local cylinder channel and network sales supply.
Continuous Improvement:
Implement and refine logistics processes to improve service quality, optimise stock availability and reduce operational costs.
Utilise data and analytics to monitor KPIs (e.g., delivery times, cost per delivery, km per tonne, haulage performance) to drive decision making and identify opportunities for improvement.
Stay updated on industry trends and logistics technology to ensure adoption of the most effective practices.
Regulatory, Legal & Compliance:
Ensure legal and compliance with all relevant QHSE regulations, including health and safety, environmental, and transportation laws.
Ensure maintenance accurate records and oversee the integrity of cylinder tracking and reporting systems.

Requirements Person Specification Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience in logistics management, with a focus on third-party logistics and contract management.
Proven track record of managing logistics operations across multiple locations, preferably in the gas, chemical, or industrial sectors.
Strong contract negotiation and vendor management skills, with experience working with third-party haulage providers.
Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements for transporting hazardous materials (ADR and DGSA).
Proficient in logistics and inventory management systems.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
Data-driven problem-solving skills, analytical and the ability to drive cost efficiencies.
Flexibility to travel across the Island of Ireland as required.
