Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor in Foundational Technologies and Models for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
The UCD School of Computer Science and School of Mathematics and Statistics seeks an Assistant Professor to develop foundational machine learning, algorithms, and architectures to support advances in the application of Artificial Intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop a research programme that underpins the wider research activities of a new AI institute, nurturing collaboration between the two Schools.
* Publish in peer-reviewed academic journals and conferences, supervise research students, and develop competitive applications for external funding.
* Teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across both Schools' data-centric programmes, contributing to the development and delivery of new programmes.

* Learning theory
* Reinforcement learning
* Online Learning
* Transfer learning
* Interpretability, trustworthiness, and accountability in decision making
* Large Language Models (LLMs) and Human language technologies
* High-performance and sustainable computing architectures for AI/ML
Requirements:
* A strong background in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
* Experience in developing foundational machine learning, algorithms, and architectures
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
Working Arrangements:
The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis, with hours of work as prescribed under Public Service Agreements.
