Automation Specialist
Location: 1 hour East of Ottawa.
Shift: Days - Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm.
Pay: $70k - $79k per year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain good working order of critical plant servers in conjunction with IT support.
2. Provide technical support for various automation equipment such as PLCs, scale indicators, sensors, and meters.
3. Troubleshoot and maintain supervisory and S.C.A.D.A/HMI systems, recipe systems, tracking systems, and data collection systems.
4. Integrate new automation equipment and systems into the current production environment, including PLCs, PLC code, supervisory and S.C.A.D.A/HMI systems, and interfacing with database systems.
5. Support the plant as required during normal operations and planned shutdowns.
6. Document existing and new automation systems.
7. Stay up to date on all critical automation systems to diagnose system failures.
8. Program, implement, and maintain automation systems using various programming languages, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data and reports for production, QA, and other departments.
9. Keep current on new computer technology and production processes and apply improvements to existing systems.
10. Work with users and system administrators during the installation phase and provide training as required.
11. Train employees such as electricians on automation systems (PLCs, sensors, and other automation devices).
12. Review software and hardware problems with operators and other users and provide ongoing technical assistance regarding automation systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or an associated degree that can obtain a P.Eng preferred OR a technology technical degree from an accredited college or better.
2. Exposure to PLCs: programming and troubleshooting.
3. Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (GE Cimplicity, WinCC from Siemens).
4. Knowledge in networking, IT infrastructure, servers, and computer hardware.
5. Skills in programming languages such as C++, C#, scripting, or equivalent.
6. Familiarity with SQL Server and T-SQL language.
7. Bilingual: English and French (oral and written) preferred.
8. Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
