The Applications Engineer position will be a customer facing position that will work closely with, and support, our OEM and end-user customers to solve their challenging & high-value problems through the application of our automation product lines.The ideal teammate will promote our growth by becoming the product use-case expert for our customers and provide their technical expertise to both customers and our regional sales staff in sponsor of Design-In Win opportunities.Your Responsibilities.Own Our Customers' Automation Technical Experience and Become Their Trusted AdvisorYou will build strong relationships with your customers, gaining their confidence to become their trusted advisor for automation.You will significantly enhance your customers' automation technical experience with Brooks Automation through face-to-face contact, supporting customer visits and Technical Review Meetings (TRMs).
You will add value to your communication with our business units through your in-depth knowledge of the customer and their challenges.Gather IntelligenceYou will grow a deep understanding of what our customers are doing, their applications, and markets, and how they add value to the Semiconductor industry.You will discover your customers challenging high value problems and contribute to their solution by proposing Brooks Automation products and producing detailed specification documents.You will share your insights, customers' needs and roadmaps, with key stakeholders within the business.
This will culminate in Brooks Automation winning new business.Customer Design ReviewsYou will prepare and present design reviews to our customers, so they have a clear understanding of the technical scope that we provide.Regional EngineeringYou will become an expert with our products' use-cases, e.g., vacuum robots & wafer handling systems, atmospheric wafer handling systems, loadports, underlying motion controls & software, to provide pre-sales technical support to our customers and account teams.You will work objectively as a team member to quickly respond to customer needs, answering questions from customers about all aspects of our products.You will enhance your customers' technical experience with rapid provision of local engineering capabilities.Lead on-site evaluations, Develop and lead demonstrations to win opportunities, Lead First-Of-Kind integrations, Optimisation of Customers' Equipment PerformanceLead product first-article integrations at customer sites as well as directly working on the products:Assist with Design & Verification Testing (DVT) and Acceptance Test (ATPs)Develop and deliver product feature and performance demonstrations to win opportunitiesLead on-site product evaluationsOptimize performance of customers' equipmentAssist business unit engineering teams with their customer escalations, using your knowledge of the customers use-case.Debug complex issues with the Field Service staffAttend & present at trade shows and seminarsExpectation of spending significant amount of time at key customer sitesYour Qualifications.Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent experience.Minimum 5-years' experience in a fast-paced customer-facing technical role.Experience with Mechatronic systems/robotic automation/semiconductor industry/machine tending automation/ semiconductor processesExperience in 2D CAD.
Technical ability to read a 2D drawing, understand how it works, and electrical/mechanical skillsUnderstanding of electronic components such as sensors, switches, relays, actuators, etc.
Able to understand system-level wiring diagrams.Self-starter that is inquisitive, excellent problem-solving skills, and motivated by a challengeFast learner, a great teammate, have a "can-do, no fear" mentality, and willing to roll up your sleeves to help a colleague or customerHelpful, patient and possesses the ability to relate to many types of peopleAble to work through problems systematically and document the findingsStrong commitment to goals and team-first attitudeAble to travel regionally and internationally as required.
