About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join the north Dublin Community Support Team based in North Dublin.
The Community Support Team is a progressive values-based model of service that offers support to people across the North Dublin Region.
This is a unique service model that aligns to the HSE Transforming Lives initiative while also incorporating the principles of the New Directions Framework to deliver supports that are person centred, promote community inclusion, active citizenship and improving quality of life.
At present the team supports eleven individuals to live in their own private rented accommodation.
The team operates on a support model that is designed in such a way that ensures the individual is in receipt of the right amount of support based on their needs with an emphasis on a reduction in support over time reflecting the progress that is made.
The team is made up of six staff from a mixture of backgrounds including the fields of social care and psychology.
There is a high degree of lone working involved in this role and the majority of supports are provided on an outreach basis.
Gheel invest heavily in providing staff with the tools that they need to provide quality supports so in this regard, the successful candidate will receive a robust suite of training upon commencement.
Following this they will be expected to deliver autism informed evidence-based assessments with their key people in order to develop a support plan which enables the person to build the skills necessary to develop independence, agency and resilience across every area of their life.
A high degree of networking and external referral work will also be part of the role as the team have built links with other agencies so that people supported can access specialised supports in areas such as community mental health, education, employment, housing, social and overall well-being.
The person appointed will report to the Location Manager and will work as an integral part of the Community Support team.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to bring their skills and talents to Gheel during a time of growth and development.
The successful candidate will work a 39-hour week operating on a day shift roster which comprises of weekday shifts (Monday to Sunday).
These hours have a degree of flexibility based on service users needs.
Annual increments are included with this post.
Essential Qualifications:
Level 7 qualification in Social Care/Studies from an accredited institution, OR A recognised qualification equivalent to the Irish Level 7 award (NARIC), OR Relevant third-level degree in social work, psychology, or allied health, OR Post-graduate qualification in Autism Studies.
Essential Criteria:
Excellent communication and engagement skills.
At least one year of recent experience in a similar role.
Ability to promote independence in individuals with support needs.
A full, clean driving licence.
A thorough understanding of HIQA regulations.
Eligibility for CORU Registration.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience supporting individuals with ASD and knowledge of autism.
Experience in case management.
