We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team in Cork as part of a global digital transformation initiative. This role will focus on optimizing and managing our IT infrastructure, overseeing day-to-day systems administration, network management, and contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with teams across Europe and Asia, ensuring the security, stability, and efficiency of our systems while supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Infrastructure Management: Lead installation, configuration, and management of servers, storage, network devices, and systems. Ensure performance, security, and stability.
* Systems Administration: Oversee operating systems (Windows, Linux), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure), applying updates and maintaining security compliance.
* Helpdesk Oversight: Manage escalated helpdesk support (L1.5), ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
* Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage backup systems and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity.
* Security & Compliance: Apply security patches and monitor systems for vulnerabilities, ensuring adherence to organizational security policies.
* Network Management: Configure and maintain network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches), optimizing performance and troubleshooting issues.
* Automation & Scripting: Use PowerShell, Bash, and other automation tools to improve system efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
* Documentation & Training: Maintain up-to-date documentation and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
* Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors for hardware procurement and support services.
* Monitoring & Performance: Monitor systems for performance bottlenecks and take proactive measures to optimize resources.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Experience: 5+ years in systems administration, infrastructure support, and managing enterprise-level systems.
Technical Skills:
* Extensive experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and VMware/Hyper-V.
* Proficient in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), backup solutions, and network management (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
* Skilled in PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation.
* Experience with Office 365 and Azure administration, firewall and switch management (Cisco, Palo Alto).
* Additional Skills:
* Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
* Knowledge of CyberArk, MFA, and SaaS/IaaS solutions is a plus.
* Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP are desirable.
Soft Skills:
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with global teams.
* Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
