Retail Horticulture Manager
Location: Carlow
Salary: Circa €45,000 + KPI Bonus up to €5,000
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Retail Horticulture Manager to lead a team of 12 employees, including horticulturalists and sales assistants. This role is perfect for an experienced Horticulturalist who is ready to take the next step into management or a Retail Manager with a strong background in horticulture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and manage a team of horticulturalists and sales assistants.
* Oversee daily operations to ensure a high standard of customer service and plant care.
* Manage DIY Department within the Garden Centre.
* Drive sales and meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Maintain and enhance the visual merchandising and presentation of the store.
* Manage stock, including ordering, goods inward and stock control to maintain a vibrant and well-stocked retail space.
* Implement sales strategies, promotions, and seasonal product planning.
* Provide expert advice to customers on plant care, gardening products, and seasonal selections.
* Manage budgets, sales targets and performance metrics to drive business growth.
* Oversee and manage Health and Safety requirements for the garden center/DIY retail areas.
Ideal Candidate:
* A qualified and experienced Horticulturalist with a strong understanding of plant care, garden products, and seasonal trends.
* Retail or managerial experience is preferred but not essential – training and development will be provided for the right candidate.
* Proven ability to lead a team and deliver excellent customer service.
* Strong commercial awareness with the ability to drive sales.
* Experience in a similar environment, such as Tirlan or Woodies, would be advantageous.
