The AI Core Components organization, part of AI Engineering, is looking for individuals with a passion for Open Source, automation, and helping grow the impact of Red Hat’s AI offerings for our customers and the community. In the position of Senior Software Engineer, you will work with a diverse team of highly motivated engineers on solving complex challenges by designing, implementing, and productizing the RHEL AI product. Your focus will be on deep integration of the AI stack with hardware accelerators from leading vendors. This position enables you to impact Red Hat’s rapidly growing AI/ML family of products directly.

What you will do
1. Contribute to the development and implementation of software for RHEL AI to leverage the power of hardware accelerators.
2. Contribute to product quality for our product set by looking to continuously improve process and coding standards.
3. Work closely with teams within AI Engineering, where collaboration opportunities present themselves.
4. Provide input to architectural and design principles that help improve overall development within the group.
5. Learn and help implement the architectural concepts that are key to the development of our product set.
6. Mentor more junior members of the team and help expand their skills.
7. Look for opportunities to contribute to upstream AI/ML communities that are relevant to our product offerings.
What you will bring
1. Experience with RHEL or other Linux distributions.
2. Solid experience with software development with programming languages such as Python, Go, or similar.
3. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
Bonus Skills
1. Previous experience with hardware acceleration, either generic GPU experience or specific ones, such as CUDA and ROCm.
2. Knowledge of AI frameworks, such as PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
3. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration.
4. Understanding of Open Source development models.
5. Experience with test-based development and agile/scrum methodologies.
