Job Summary:
As an Operations Controls Management Lead within the Operations Control Management team, you will be directly reporting to the Global Head of Securities Services Operations Governance and Controls Management. Your role will be to lead a global team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging environment. You will be a highly engaged team member, tasked with the development and execution of key initiatives, with a focus on operational risk excellence and control mitigation to manage the continuous changes in the regulatory landscape.
Control Management maintains a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model that aligns managers with each function and region to mitigate risk. The team focuses on four areas: Control Design & Expertise, Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment, Issues & Control Deficiencies and Control Governance & Reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices
Provide leadership for end-to-end execution of the CIB’s controls management agenda, including Issue Management, and proactive risk management
Create a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols
Create an inclusive culture, enhancing employee engagement, to attract, develop, and retain the best, most diverse talent
Co-chair control committees and forums, and attend and input to the broader organisation’s governance helping to implement solutions
Coordinate interactions with audit, compliance, and regulators through exam process, supporting SOX testing & SOC1 delivery
Monitor the end-to-end Control Environment, through operational risks metrics reporting and trigger-based escalation processes
Play a critical role in technology enhancements, new application design & associated implementation from controls, access, standards, etc.
Develop and execute a control design and evaluation roadmap to validate effectiveness of key controls and proactively identify control gaps or breaks
Ensure operational practices are in compliance with relevant risk standards, policies and regulations to maintain an effective control environment
Manage a portfolio of key metrics to inform on the health of the risk and control environment, drive and manage priority initiatives on the CIB’s risk and controls agenda
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
Experience in leading a global function within a banking environment required. Some experience of managing managers
Proven ability to drive cultural changes
Demonstrated ability to think strategically with respect to data, technology, risk/control, and regulatory agendas.
Strong data orientation and ability to lead on data culture, practice development and tooling. Experience with data visualization tools
Strong stakeholder management, with an demonstrable ability to influence across matrixed organisations
Leadership, prioritization, and team building skills
Ability to think strategically and partner with teams to solve problems and continuously improve processes and controls, passion for data driven decision making
Highly disciplined self-starter, with the ability to execute in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
Experience in setting or helping drive a change agenda
Ability to effectively communicate complex policy and operational concepts to any audience, including senior management and junior operational staff
Highly developed analytical skills and intellectual curiosity
