MTU has an extensive and impressive regional footprint with six campuses across the South-West region in Cork and Kerry, and a student body of 18,000. Munster Technological University wishes to appoint a Programme Coordinator at the MTU at Grade VII, to manage an initiative funded by Enterprise Ireland Innovators Initiative, called Cyber Innovate. The following job specification provides information on the Enterprise Ireland (EI) Innovators Initiative and MTU Cyber Innovate programme. To provide additional context to Cyber Innovate, the sections below detail MTUs established cybersecurity academic research, innovation and training ecosystem and innovation and entrepreneurship programmes and initiatives. Enterprise Ireland (EI) Innovators Initiative The EI Innovators Initiative: Pioneering Smart Futures training programme is a new programme that aims to uncover unmet needs across a range of sectors and help generate new ideas for meeting them. The programme will attract high calibre individuals and inter-disciplinary teams who, through their immersion and observation of real needs in their immersive environment and the use of a design methodology, will be supported to generate new product and process ideas, new IP and in some cases, the creation of high-potential-startups (HPSUs). The programme will provide participants with structured, practical training in needs-based innovation methodologies and in-depth exposure to a relevant, real world immersive environment. Graduates of the programme will form cohorts of highly skilled innovators who can observe and identify the unmet needs within specific sectors with a view of designing next generation technologies and innovative business models that will address those needs. Further information is available: January 2025 Page 2 of 5 Ref: 023194 Cyber Innovate A needs led Cybersecurity innovation initiative MTUs Cyber Innovate is one of the four Innovators Initiative training programmes recently funded by Enterprise Ireland. MTUs Cyber Innovate addresses cybersecurity innovation and entrepreneurship in the three domains of information technology (IT), of operational technology (OT) and of Internet of Things/Cyber Physical Systems (IoT/CPS). This represents a massive opportunity for innovators and entrepreneurs as digitalisation gathers speed across all business and industry sectors and where OT/IoT/CPS underpin Industry 4.0 and 5.0 for manufacturing and for critical national infrastructure including energy, utilities, and transport. Within these key domains, innovation has not been able to keep pace with the rapid growth and advances in digitalisation. Cyber Innovate aims to bridge this gap by positioning the Southern region of Ireland as a leading innovation ecosystem in cybersecurity, developing cyber capabilities within Irelands own borders, providing opportunities for engaging existing talent, with an interest in entrepreneurship in an innovation economy and enabling the rapid and agile development of innovation solutions to cybersecurity challenges. MTUs established Cybersecurity Ecosystem MTU also has a very strong cybersecurity ecosystem which include the following: Teaching & Learning: Undergraduate and Postgraduate Skills: Cyber-Skills Clustering: Cyber-Ireland Infrastructure: Cyber-Ranges Education and Public Engagement: Cyber-Futures Research and Innovation: Cyber-Explore Research Group Cyber Innovate Programme Coordinator Responsibilities: The Cyber Innovate Programme Coordinator will have responsibility for supporting the Programme Director in the co-ordination and management of all aspects of the training, mentoring and teaching of the Cyber Innovate programme. The candidate must be willing to work flexible hours and travel nationally, mainly during September to November, and occasionally internationally and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders. The Programme Manager will manage and co-ordinate a programme that will require interfacing with several MTU stakeholders including the programme Co-Sponsors, research staff, HR, admissions, lecturers, procurement, Rubicon staff, Heads of Department, etc. Main duties will include but not limited to: Coordinate the immersive environment between students and industry immersive environment partners. Coordinate the recruitment and student selection process. Coordinate the schedule of mentors, trainers, steering committee meetings, advisory panel meetings and guest speakers. Liaise with the Department of Computer Science, HEA Cyber Skills initiative and Department of Management and Enterprise in relation to the academic provision of the programme. Manage administrative aspects such as tracking of invoices, student recruitment, enrolment, student feedback, immersive environment partner feedback, etc. Organise events and lead on marketing and promotion including the Cyber Innovate website and CRM platform. Co-ordinate the activities of the administrator. Support the writing of reports, reviews and audits. The appointee shall carry out the lawful instructions of the President (or authorised Officer) and comply with the requirements of Enterprise Irelands Innovators Initiative Programme. Qualification Requirements and Selection Criteria for role: Essential Criteria: Minimum 5 years professional experience in academia/industry. Excellent organisational, administration and documentation skills. Proven project and programme management abilities. Excellent IT, communication and presentation skills. Fluency in spoken and written English. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders. Experience of working to tight deadlines, multi-tasking and managing different and conflicting demands. Excellent interpersonal skills and service-mindedness with the ability to interface collegially and effectively with others and foster good working relationships. Desirable Criteria: Ideally the post holder will hold a qualification in Project Management. An appropriate third-level qualification at NFQ level 8 or above or equivalent industry experience. Demonstrated experience in process development and improvement. Experience using a CRM. Experience in working in the cybersecurity sector or Innovation/startup environment. Experience of managing a university or educational programme/initiative. Knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity and the cybersecurity sector in Ireland.
