Artemis Executive Search has been successfully retained by an established Mid-Ulster manufacturing group to appoint a new Managing Director. The new MD will spearhead strategic initiatives, drive operational efficiencies, and prepare the organisation for acquisitions over the next two years. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of success in executive management, preferably within the manufacturing sector, and demonstrate expertise in scaling operations, optimizing performance, and navigating complex business environments.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Growth:
o Develop and implement a robust business strategy aligned with company goals, focusing on sustainable growth and profitability.
o Lead the preparation for and integration of upcoming acquisitions, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with overall business objectives.
o Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including shareholders, board members, suppliers, and customers, to align objectives and drive business growth.
2. Operational Excellence:
o Drive efficiencies across all operational areas, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high product quality and service standards.
o Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimise resource allocation.
o Oversee supply chain, production, and distribution activities, ensuring consistent performance and meeting delivery timelines.
3. Financial Performance & Budgeting:
o Assume full P&L responsibility, managing financial performance in line with budgets and business forecasts.
o Work closely with the finance team to set, monitor, and control budgets, financial targets, and KPIs, maximising profitability and ensuring cash flow stability.
o Provide transparent and timely reporting to the board on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
4. People Leadership & Culture:
o Inspire, mentor, and develop the leadership team and workforce, fostering a positive and high-performance culture that embraces accountability, continuous learning, and innovation.
o Collaborate with HR to attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring the company has the skillsets needed for future growth.
o Champion a safe and inclusive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
5. Business Development & Market Positioning:
o Identify new market opportunities and drive initiatives that expand the company’s market share, both in Ireland and internationally.
o Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and seeking growth opportunities.
o Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes, proactively adjusting strategy as needed.
What do we look for?
* Proven experience in a Managing Director, General Manager, or senior leadership role within a high-turnover manufacturing environment, ideally with P&L responsibility (Accountant – Desirable)
* Strong background in manufacturing operations and understanding of lean methodologies, supply chain management, and quality assurance.
* Demonstrated ability to lead acquisitions, integrations, and/or strategic initiatives.
* Excellent financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, financial analysis, and cost control.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams.
* Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and board members.
