Adult and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses
We are seeking qualified nurses to join our team at St. Patrick's University Hospital in Dublin.
Job Description
The successful applicants will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the context of the designated ward, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, while ensuring a high standard of patient care and clinical assessment.
Main Responsibilities
1. Organisational Management:
* Taking charge of a ward in the absence of a more senior nurse
* Facilitating and cooperating with any inspectorates to the hospital
* Reporting activities that jeopardize patient, staff, or visitor safety
2. Prevention and Control of Infection:
* Providing care in line with hospital infection control policy
* Liaising with the Infection Control Nurse and unit supervisor to ensure adherence to legislative requirements and hospital policies
3. Quality Improvement & Patient Safety:
* Participating in quality improvement activities to maintain high standards of patient care and clinical assessment
* Implementing and evaluating nursing practice to minimize risk
4. Facility Management & Safety (Health & Safety):
* Providing a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with hospital policy and legislation
* Supporting risk management activities to enhance safety
* Reporting incidents and accidents
5. Staff Qualification & Management:
* Identifying educational and training requirements of students and staff
* Participating in ongoing professional development activities
6. Management of Information:
* Maintaining patient, staff, and hospital confidentiality
* Ensuring accurate and legible documentation of relevant clinical information
Patient Centred Care
7. Access to Care & Continuity of Care:
* Providing evidence-based care respecting individual needs
* Facilitating patient and family involvement in planning and decision-making
8. Patient & Family Rights:
* Promoting and protecting patient rights at all times
* Advocating for patients and facilitating their involvement in care decisions
9. Assessment of Patients:
* Conducting initial and ongoing assessments using hospital-approved tools
* Completing nursing assessments and care planning documentation
10. Care of Patients:
* Treating patients as individuals
* Delivering care consistent with patient expectations and evidence-based practice
11. Patient & Family Education:
* Assessing patient educational needs
* Facilitating patient understanding of procedures requiring informed consent
Adolescent Duties
* Functioning as a Named Key Nurse within a multi-disciplinary team
* Participating in comprehensive assessments of young people in collaboration with the young person, family, and team
* Planning and implementing recovery-oriented care plans based on best practice guidelines
