Job Description
The Centre Manager (Person in Charge) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the residential centre.
* Administrative duties and responsibilities related to the progression and practice of the staff team and implementation of Placement Plan objectives for young people.
* Ensuring that young people receive agreed quality and quantity services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Child Centered Care and Support:
* Consultation with young people on a regular basis, ensuring their agenda is relevant, creative, and responsive to their needs.
* Monitoring keywork records and ensuring full implementation of the keywork policy.
* Access to Records: promoting and facilitating young people's right to access their information within permitted boundaries.
2. Complaints Management: reporting all complaints to the Social Work Department, advocating for young people, and liaising with external agencies as needed.
3. Contact with Families: maintaining suitable contact with families, ensuring this is adequately recorded, and providing feedback to staff on family engagement.
4. Effective Care and Support:
* Suitable Placement and Admissions: overseeing the setting up of young people's care folders, ensuring they have knowledge of referral information, and participating in transition planning.
* Statutory Care Plans/Care Plan Reviews/Placement Plans: quality assessing or completing reports for Child in Care Reviews and attending such meetings.
5. Health, Wellbeing and Development:
* Provision of Food and Cooking Facilities: overseeing the creation of a centre Weekly Meal Planner and ensuring a suitable balance of health and nutrition.
* Medical Care: encouraging and facilitating young people to attend medical appointments, ensuring medication is dispensed appropriately, and recording this within care records.
6. Leadership, Governance and Management:
* Legislation Adherence: ensuring staff are competent and confident in adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
* Risk Assessing: conducting daily risk assessments, ensuring adequate supervision of young people, and completing Accident Reports.
7. Responsive Workforce:
* Staffing: facilitating centre-specific induction processes, introducing new employees to recording systems, and providing opportunities to shadow staff practice.
* Supervision and Support: participating in monthly supervision with the Regional Manager, chairing SCL meetings, and monitoring employee development.
8. Use of Resources:
* Petty Cash Management: authorising transactions, compiling the Petty Cash report, and submitting it to Head Office.
* Maintenance and Repairs: ensuring maintenance work is undertaken promptly and identifying repair needs for centre vehicles.
9. Use of Information:
* Record Keeping: ensuring all records kept on young people are up-to-date, accurate, and of high quality.
* Centre Register Updates: updating the Centre Register upon admission and discharge of young people.
