This position will involve start-up, normal operation, monitoring & shutdown, and maintenance of clean utilities. This will include WFI, clean steam, bulk gases, bulk chemicals, process water generation, boilers, chillers, chemical dosing systems, cooling towers, air compressors, LPHW skids, waste water treatment, biowaste inactivation skids and other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or industrial processes.
The successful candidate will be required to work 24/7 shift which includes day & night shift.
A typical day might include, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Observing & interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of utilities operation to ensure that equipment is operating properly
2. Switching from automatic to manual controls and isolating equipment mechanically and electrically to allow for safe inspection and repair work
3. Maintaining daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work
4. Monitoring and inspecting equipment, computer terminals, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices, meters to detect leaks or malfunctions and to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently and safely
5. Analysing problems and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems
6. Cleaning and lubricating equipment and auxiliary equipment where you will make minor adjustments as needed, using hand tools
7. Performing or arranging repairs, such as complete overhauls, replacement of defective valves, gaskets, bearings, or fabrication of new parts
8. Operating facilities equipment and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, and air-conditioning equipment, to supply and maintain steam or heat for buildings and to meet industrial processes
9. Activating valves to maintain required amounts of water in boilers, to adjust supplies of combustion air and to control the flow of fuel into burners
10. Testing boiler water quality or arrange for testing and take necessary corrective action, such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits
11. Adjusting controls and/or valves on equipment to provide power, and to regulate and set operations of system or industrial processes
12. Monitoring boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, to make adjustments to maintain required levels
13. Contacting equipment manufacturers or appropriate specialists when necessary to resolve equipment problems
14. Monitoring and control of systems utilizing computer driven Building Automation System (BAS)
