You will be part of a team who use US insurance, property, weather, and other geo-spatial data from various sources and platforms to support our product suite of US property insurance underwriting and pricing.
About the Job:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced GIS Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geospatial data handling and processing, proficiency in working with large volumes of data, and a deep understanding of various types of geospatial data and strong data handling and processing knowledge in general.
Responsibilities:
* Collecting, processing, and analyzing geospatial data, including weather-related data (flood, wind, hail, tornado/hurricane), property location data.
* Managing and integrating diverse datasets from varied sources such as census data, weather and property data.
* Designing and implementing data processing workflows to ensure efficient data handling.
* Automating data processing workflows using tools and scripting languages; Python, Pentaho Data Integration.
* Utilizing open-source software such as QGIS for geospatial analysis.
* Working with cloud technologies like AWS and Azure for data storage, processing, and analytics.
* Developing and maintaining documentation for data processes and workflows.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support data needs and analytic projects.
* Ensuring data quality and integrity through rigorous validation and cleansing processes.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
* Experience in a GIS data analysis role.
* Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation a plus.
* Experience with database management systems such as PostgreSQL and PostGIS a big plus (or good knowledge of a similar RDBMS).
* Proficiency in using open-source geospatial tools like QGIS.
* Experience in workflow automation (Pentaho Data Integration).
* Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
* Ability to handle and process large volumes of data efficiently.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
