This position will have the opportunity to architect, build and operate the next generation distributed database and storage platform that powers some of the most critical systems powering eBay’s global ecommerce business. You will be responsible for scaling eBay’s core data infrastructure by working closely with other engineers, customers, business partners, and product managers. What you will accomplish:You will be building and managing massively scalable database and storage systems for eBayAs a self-motivated and enthusiastic technical leader of our team, you will collaborate with extremely inquisitive and proficient peers leading and designing data infrastructure using your strong background in distributed systems, storage and large-scale database systemsYou will work in an agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering precision. As a technical leader you are expected to assess technology problems, design optimal solutions and drive implementation to meet the business expectationsYou will collaborate closely with peers Architects, Engineering leaders and Product Managers to develop innovative solutions that meet functional and non-functional standards and expectationsAs a senior technical leader, you will guide junior and senior engineers in your team and also across other cloud teams in building scalable, high speed, distributed systems and advocate for meeting the design and quality standardsYou will contribute to the design, development, testing, release, triage, bug fix, documentation and rest of the cycles in product development and maintenanceAs a key influencer of the organization, you should bring in new ideas to adapt to technological developments and industry best practices that will create lasting impact for eBay and its customers What you will bring:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 10+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science plus + years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systemsExcellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithmsExperience in architecting, designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software systems, storage and databaseExtensive hands-on experience and expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Distributed Programming, and: C#, C++, or Java and various database systems (NoSQL and relational) at scaleDrive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviewsEnsure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systemsShare engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24x7 site #LI-AZ1Please see the Talent Privacy Notice for information regarding how eBay handles your personal data collected when you use the eBay Careers website or apply for a job with eBay.eBay is an equal opportunity employer.
