House Officer - Newtownabbey - £35,235 - £37,035 - Initial Interim Contract (3 months) About the Role: VANRATH are partnering with a prominent local authority to recruit a House Officer to join their Arts and Culture team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced events or facilities professional to play a pivotal role in the delivery of cultural and conferencing programmes across some of Northern Ireland's leading public venues. The House Officer will take responsibility for day-to-day operations across theatre and conference spaces, managing staffing rotas, overseeing event delivery, and ensuring high standards of customer service and compliance. This is a hands-on role that blends operational management with team leadership and public engagement. The Ideal Candidate: Minimum of 2 years' recent supervisory experience in a customer-facing setting (e.g. arts, leisure, theatre, conferencing or events). *Consideration will be given to candidates with 3+ years' relevant experience in lieu of academic qualifications. 5 GCSEs (A-C), including English and Maths. Demonstrable understanding of health and safety legislation in public venues. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate large teams and complex events. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations. Willingness to work flexible shifts across venues, including evenings and weekends as required. Desirable Criteria: Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline. Experience using booking or event management systems. Experience managing a theatre or public-facing conference venue. What You'll Be Doing: Managing cultural and conference facilities for performances, civic events and commercial hires. Leading on site setups, risk assessments, health & safety processes and customer liaison. Overseeing rotas for cleaners and front-of-house/event staff. Serving as Duty Officer during key events and performances. Acting as the main contact for clients and liaising with internal teams and contractors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
