Key Responsibilities
* Engage in a Mechanical Apprenticeship program to learn and develop new practical craft-related skills, knowledge, and competence.
* Comply with Health and Safety requirements.
* Work and learn from experienced craft persons.
* Understand and use physics and mathematics to solve technical or scientific problems.
* Be responsible for controlling or adjusting equipment.
* Work on machines/processes.
* Understand technical drawings and diagrams.
* Maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
* Keep accurate records of all calibrations or reports.
* Be well-organized and careful with practical tasks.
The Apprenticeship Training Programme
Phase 1: Minimum 12 weeks - Employer Induction Training and Introduction to Health & Safety.
Phase 2: 27 weeks - Delivered in Training Centre (Course Content: General Workshop Skills, Turning, Milling, Thermal Processes, Plant & Machine Maintenance, Fluid Power Systems, Introduction to CNC, Introduction to Abrasive Wheels).
Phase 3: Minimum 26 weeks - Work-Based Training and Assessments.
Phase 4: 21 weeks - Delivered in Educational College (Course Content: Bench Fitting, Turning, Milling, Thermal Processes, Plant, Machine Maintenance & Electrical Automation & Control, CNC Programming).
Phase 5: Minimum 26 weeks - Work-Based Training and Assessments.
Phase 6: 11 weeks - Delivered in Educational College (Course Content: Manufacturing Processes, Integrated Automation and Control, CAD/CAM, IT, Plant and Machine Diagnostics, Thermal Processes).
Phase 7: Minimum 12 weeks - Work-Based Training and Assessments.
The overall duration of this apprenticeship is a minimum of 4 years provided all phases are successfully completed.
On successful completion of the programme the learner is awarded a Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft - Electrical Instrumentation.
