Job Title: Environmental Engineer
At Amazon Data Services Ireland Limited, we're responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, environmental experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for environmental, safety, and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Key Job Responsibilities:
* Assess and support compliance with local and national environmental regulations, contractual obligations, and Amazon policy.
* Play a key role in regional environmental programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operation teams - drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization while maintaining environmental management processes and external accreditation.
* Evaluate work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees to ensure completion in accordance with Amazon standards.
* Develop, analyze, and present environmental metrics, horizon scan for risk, and effectively communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
* Submit timely environmental reports to various governmental agencies.
* Conduct thorough environmental investigations and associated regulatory reporting, working with operations/necessary stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering/science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry, or related field of study with 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, environmental consultant, environmental manager, program specialist, or program manager.
* Experience in environmental compliance, environmental auditing, environmental permitting/reporting, waste management, environmental management systems, and ISO14001 standards.
* Broad knowledge of Irish environmental regulations and licensing requirements & project management skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior leaders inside and outside the company.
* Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
* Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in implementing practical improvements.
* A self-starter who consistently identifies improvement opportunities and applies new knowledge to enhance environmental performance.
