An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team supports our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, and taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour, sense of fun, and creativity in supporting our service users with day-to-day life.
Where You Would Work: Easkey, Co. Sligo
Our Easkey scheme is a small residential scheme caring for 4 ladies in their 60’s. We focus on intellectual disabilities and nonverbal communication, but we are definitely more on the elderly care side. Personal care is a massive part of our day, as is assisted dressing, feeding, and incontinence care. Our ladies rely on staff for all aspects of daily living. Staff do the cleaning, cooking, appointments, and activities. Team leaders are on the floor unlike some services.
Administration work is done during the night shift when service users are in bed or via an office day if required.
