Job Title: Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Gynaecology
Department: PHYSIOTHERAPY DEPARTMENT in the Rotunda Hospital
Purpose of the Post
To work with Obstetrics/Gynaecological/Urogynaecological Consultants and relevant healthcare professionals to undertake triage of ambulatory gynaecological referrals, ensuring efficient and effective management of the waiting list and improving patient pathways of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide first contact of care following triage of referrals and link back into the Gynaecology service as required.
* Attend clinics with relevant Consultants or Specialist Registrars.
* Provide physiotherapy advanced assessment, management, and treatment of patients referred from the ambulatory gynaecology service.
* Manage pessary fitting and review according to relevant guidelines and under the governance of the Obstetric/Gynaecological teams.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team ethos, liaising with staff to ensure effective communication at all times.
* Evaluate and develop the clinical specialist role through clinical audit and research.
Clinical Practice
* Provide an expert clinical service to the Women's Health and Continence service.
* Ensure high standards of physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and management are provided for patients, adhering to professional standards.
* Respect patient privacy and dignity at all times, observing confidentiality.
Education and Continuous Professional Development
* Lead, promote, and ensure clinical effectiveness through performance management, education, audit, and research.
* Collect and analyse data to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and uphold standards of care through clinical audit and research.
* Keep abreast of research and practice developments in relevant clinical areas by attending seminars, conferences, and postgraduate courses.
* Promote changes in work practices, procedures, techniques, or technology having regard to the development of best practice and advanced practice in physiotherapy.
Working Practice
* Awareness of resource management and contribution to business planning and continuous quality improvement related to the physiotherapy department and the specialist area.
* Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient and activity records in line with national documentation standards.
* Adhere to clinic standards of practice and protocols for written communication with GP's and referral sources.
Requirements
* Hold a Physiotherapy qualification recognised by the Physiotherapists Registration Board and be registered on the physiotherapy register maintained by the Physiotherapy Registration Board at CORU (proof required).
* Essential requirements include confidence, self-motivation, reliability, flexibility, ability to work as part of a team, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, and strong leadership skills.
