STRI Group is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Manager to join our team, based at our headquarters in Bingley, West Yorkshire.

Our HQ is home to a world-leading turfgrass research facility, and our expertise spans across sports surfaces, residential, corporate, and public spaces.
The Research Manager is responsible for designing and overseeing client research projects to ensure they meet objectives effectively and profitably. They disseminate project conclusions to relevant STRI staff and share results more broadly through conferences, papers, popular articles, or advisory leaflets. Additionally, they identify and develop new R&D clients, projects, services, and markets to expand the company’s offerings. The role requires the Research Manager to work independently, using their own initiative but also in conjunction with other Research Managers. This role oversees a team, so should also guide, train and develop their team.
You will be required to provide proof of your identity, right to work in the UK, and qualifications during the selection process. We will seek references on short-listed candidates and may approach previous employers for information to verify experience or qualifications before interview. An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.

You will be responsible for:
1. Liaise with clients to develop and fulfil business opportunities.
2. Develop innovative systems and delivery methods to meet needs.
3. Seek opportunities to develop new services and markets.
4. Participate in project planning, management, and delivery.
5. Manage projects, ensuring they are registered, tracked, on target for delivery, and invoiced on time.
6. Disseminate research findings through lectures and practical demonstrations.
7. Liaise with clients on project scope and objectives and send protocols and final reports.
8. Expected to lead a team of Trials Officers, by training and developing them to reach team goals and objectives.
9. Responsible to pick up any missed tasks by Trials Officer in own team (in exceptional cases).
You will need:
1. Enthusiastic and willing to work the necessary hours to develop the research business.
2. Willing to travel throughout the UK, Ireland, and internationally to develop business opportunities.
3. University degree or extensive experience in amenity/agriculture.
4. Experience of product registration process and trial work.
5. Experience in ARM software.
6. Proven experience in applied R&D and project management, with turfgrass research being a distinct advantage.
7. High technical competency in a relevant scientific discipline.
8. Strong management and networking skills.
9. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
10. Interest in sport.
11. Clean UK driving licence.
